Zurich, Tuesday 29th November 2016 – LzLabs announced today that it is collaborating with SMA Solutions to enable their workload automation solution to work on the LzLabs Software-Defined Mainframe®.
The LzLabs Software Defined Mainframe® faithfully recreates the behavior of the primary online, batch, database and security subsystems of legacy mainframes so that customers can escape the high recurring cost of mainframe software and hardware, whilst preserving their enormous investment in legacy applications, data and business processes. In most cases, this requires migration of data, applications and complex job schedules, written specifically for mainframes. With the integration of SMA’s flagship automation solution, the entire workload can now be processed on the LzLabs Software Defined Mainframe for new and existing customers of both businesses. Simultaneously, this enables strong integration to other parts of the enterprise through OpCon’s expansive automation fabric.
SMA Solutions is a provider of enterprise-wide automation solutions to businesses and government entities around the world. The company’s flagship technology, OpConTM, is a dynamic, event-driven automation solution that supports all operating systems and platforms from a single point of control.
Michael Taylor, CEO, SMA Solutions, said: “our customers want solutions to the challenges of mainframe lock-in. There is significant opportunity in the market for any vendor that can address the demand for interoperability, application virtualization and Cloud migration, while maintaining IT performance. With the integration of our automation solution, the LzLabs Software Defined Mainframe® delivers the benefits of open, modern systems, in an environment our users recognize. This is a major selling point for us as a business and we’re excited about what this offering can achieve for our customers.”
“Batch job schedules create almost as much lock-in to legacy mainframe platforms as the applications themselves,” stated Mark Cresswell, CEO of LzLabs. “Our collaboration with SMA Solutions is designed to overcome that barrier to migration. With OpCon, our customers can now run batch schedules on our platform that were originally implemented in legacy mainframe scheduling systems. We’re delighted to be working with Michael and his team, and are excited about the benefits our solution will bring to organisations.”
